Are you feeling unhappy with the look of your nose? If so, you may be considering rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a procedure for changing the shape and/or size of the nose, whether for cosmetic reasons or for functional reasons.

Surgical rhinoplasty is an invasive procedure that requires recovery time. Even just a few years ago, if you wanted to get your nose corrected, your only option would have been a surgical rhinoplasty. However, nowadays, for those looking for a more convenient and less invasive option, there is an alternative available: non-surgical rhinoplasty.

What Is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

A non-surgical rhinoplasty is a non-invasive procedure that uses injectable fillers to reshape a nose or even to correct breathing issues. It is also called a “15-minute nose job,” because that’s all the time it takes to improve the appearance of your nose using this minimally invasive method.

The fillers used in these procedures are the same kind used for wrinkle reduction and lip and cheek enhancements. These fillers, called hyaluronic-acid fillers, are often considered the safest kind of fillers. When they are injected into the tissues of the nose, they add volume to the region by attracting water molecules. The amount of filler injected will depend on the aesthetic goals of the patient and on the doctor’s recommendation.

The procedure rates very low on the pain scale, with patients saying that it is relatively painless or at most causes a moderate amount, and this can be addressed using various techniques. Surgeons will first use a topical cream to numb the area and will then precisely inject the dermal filler into the targeted area.

There is practically no recovery time required after undergoing non-surgical rhinoplasty, since there is no removal of any kind of nasal tissue. Patients can usually get right back to work after the procedure and can continue with their daily routines. There may be a degree of redness and very slight bruising, but this will only be temporary and will resolve quite soon.

What Issues Can a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Correct?

The most common issue that can be corrected with a non-surgical nose job is a bump or hump on the bridge of the nose. To correct this nasal malformation, surgeons fill the area around the bump, thus giving the bridge of the nose an overall straighter look. Other issues that can be corrected using this quick and minimally invasive method include the following:

  • A drooping nasal tip
  • An asymmetrical nasal tip
  • Asymmetrical nostrils
  • A nasal tip that is lacking in projection
  • A depression or dip on the outside of the nose
  • A mildly crooked nose
  • Oversized nostril rims
  • Augmentation of the nasal bridge
